Ted Alsedek
2011 Water Ballet Script
Raised as a foundling at a Syrian monastery, Ted was precociously adept at the brotherly arts of mumbletypeg & three-man canasta. After juggling his way across continental Europe & stowing away on a tramp steamer bound for Baltimore, he earned his living as a street mime & burlesque show hawker. His affinity for polyester pantsuits led to his portrayal of Greggy Glitterati in the Glitterama variety show franchise. Fluid Movement has made him a talking flea, an over-easy Humpty Dumpty, and a father of two children older than himself. He has been known to moonlight as a high school English teacher.

Valarie Perez-Schere
2011 Water Ballet Producer, Script writer, Founding Member
The child of vagrant tin smiths, Val learned early the going value of hard-nosed gumption and reclaimed aluminum siding. Taught to write and read with her left hand, she found a home underneath the return of a duckpin bowling alley. Approach her carefully; the constant cacophony of the bowling alley makes her uneasy. A founding member of Fluid Movement, her favorite roles include Chip, the over-eager Flurry family boy scout, Krystal Dangsheskanky (Winner of the Baltimore Beauty Pageant), and Yoko Ono. She is also a belly dancing Elvis impersonator and the proud mother of four. Three. Three. The proud mother of three.

Jobi Zink
2011 Water Ballet Co-Producer
I took the call to the side of the pool seriously. Water ballet. I’d seen it before. 70 people bedazzled in sequins frolicking in near-synchronization. Heck, I’d been one of those swimmers five or six times so I knew what they were looking for: pointed toes, straight lines… and more glitter. I picked up my pad and pencil and started concentrating on the details.

Joe Meduza
Assistant Producer Behind-the-Scenes
Born in July and with a pool in his backyard, Joe Meduza was genetically predetermined to be Aquatic. Spending great summer eons perfecting his fish like abilities, swimmining under water, floating and laying at the bottom of the deep end. Eventually he evolved, grew appendges, crawled out of the chlorinated deep to discovered he had other skills…

Becky Shields
2011 Water Ballet Director - Boom Boom Room
Becky joined Fluid Movement for her first water ballet 6 years ago with the express intent of making a fool of herself, having fun, and avoiding men for awhile. Instead she made a fool of herself, had fun, and … found a husband. She believes that anything in life can be made better with a glitter, dancing, and gags involving a tiny boat.

Rachel Kassman
2011 Water Ballet Director - Boom Boom Room
This director is a dame who knows what she wants. And what she wants…is more sequins! After three years of unitards, more unitards and a full blown skeleton suit she’s looking forward to getting her gams moving in a scene dedicated to sexy stylins’ with a patriotic flare. She’s ready to lead a bevy of dolls, molls, kittens and skirts around the stage and into the pool with charm, cheek and a naughty wink.

John Leszczynski
2011 Water Ballet Director - Babalu Club
Returning for his second season, John has combined his earlier-in-life competitive swimming skills with his inner cheeseball to become a water balleter extraordinaire. Fluid Movement is the perfect creative foil for his 9-5 government budget gig. John looks forward to channeling his inner Ricky Ricardo in the 2011 show.

Sidney Pink
2011 Water Ballet Director - Gangster Fight
Sidney Pink is a visual artist, performer, and future spaceman. He’s worked and performed in theatre for over 15 years. Pink takes on challenging roles such as a toothpick-football player in Tokyo International Players’ Best Little Whore House in Texas or the lonely optimistic audio speaker in Fluid Movement’s 3001: A Baltimore Odyssey. As a director for Fluid Movement’s 2011 Mobtown Murder Mystery, Pink is rounding up water ballet’s tough guys and femme fatales as he meditates on his hardboiled existence.

Justin Sabe
2011 Water Ballet Director - Wild Samoan
When asked what he does outside of work, Justin answers “I help direct an amateur synchronized swimming water ballet spectacular.” This either sparks instant friendship or stops conversation dead. In addition to directing and playing Phineas in the Harpy scene last year, Justin has built props, swam and spun fire in previous productions. Justin is very excited to be working with Sarah Wilson who he shared scenes with for the past 2 years.
Outside of Fluid Movement, Justin can be found playing brass instruments and drums in Baltimore’s own punk street band Barrage Band Orchestra, or disguised as a shrub for Ambush Theater. Again, sparking friendships or stopping conversations.

Jane Shock-Osborn
2011 Water Ballet Director - Babalu Club
She was a dame who really knew her way around a swimming pool, if ya know what I mean. Clams, sinking ballet legs, tubs, eggbeaters, cascading dives, she knew ‘em all. Some say she had chlorinated water running through her veins. Whatever it was, it’s coming back for the 2011 season. Look for the fishnets and she won’t be far behind.

Sarah Wilson
2011 Water Ballet Director - Wild Samoan
After working security for a Soviet labor camp in Strange Customs and dancing disco with a flock of Harpies in Jason and the Aquanauts, the next logical step was to try her hand at directing. This summer, Sarah will be hula-ing her way through the pool as a co-director of the Polynesian scene for Fluid Movement’s Mobtown Murder Mystery.
